TEMPLES IN RAJASTHAN

1. BIRLA MANDIR

This is the most visited temple of the state. Located on the foothills of Moti Dungari of Jaipur, this temple was built in 20th century by the Birla family. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his consort, Lord Lakshmi.

The temple holds three domes, which represents the three main religions that were born in the country. Inside the temple, you can find statues of deities of various religions, philosophers, national integrity and so on.

The temple is famous for its delicate architecture and the serenity of the place. Visit the temple by sunset to enjoy the richness of each detail in the architecture, highlighted by artificial lights decorating the temple. 2. KARNI MATA TEMPLE

Karni Mata temple holds more than 20,000 black rats in Bikaner. The main ritual of the temple is to feed the rats. Whenever a rat is dead, a rat statue is erected inside the temple complex.

The food offered by the devotees is nibbled by the rats. The remains of the nibbles are considered to be very holy and are offered to the devotees. The best time to visit the temple is during Ashvin Shukla Dashmi, Karni Mata fair, Chaitra and others.

3. GALTAJI TEMPLE

Galta Ji Temple is an ancient temple located in Khania Balaji town, carved between two boulders. The water tank in the temple is covered to be sacred and tourists take holy dip in the temple for salvation.

This temple is also called as the Monkey Temple, due to the rich population of the species. You can find many shrines inside the temple complex for Sun God, Balaji and others. Makar Sankranti (harvest festival of January) is the best time to visit this temple.

4. BRAHMA TEMPLE

According to mythology, Lord Brahma, the creator of the world was cursed to not have any temple or worship forms on Earth. Thus, it is very hard to find temples dedicated to Lord Brahma. Even in temples where his consort, Lord Saraswati is seen, Lord Brahma would not be erected. There are just a handful of temples in the world for Lord Brahma and the best of all is the Brahma temple of Pushkar. Also called as Jagatpita Brahma temple, this temple is located very close to Pushkar Lake. The temple is said to be more than 2000 years old. The best time to visit the temple is during Kartika Poornima. Taking a holy dip in the lake and offering prayers in the temple is considered to be a ritual here.

5. EKLINGJI TEMPLE

This 8th century temple is located in Udaipur. This temple complex was said to be built with 108 temples, surrounded by high walls. Today, a few temples stand proud. The main temple of the complex is Shiva temple. This is a very important pilgrimage site. If you visit during Mondays, you can find many rituals for Lord Shiva. The temple is best visited during Maha Shivaratri. The exact date of the festival changes each year, based on the lunar calendar.

6. RANI SATI TEMPLE

This temple is located in Jhunjhunu. This is the largest temple in the country that is dedicated to Rani Sati of 13th century, who died due to self-immolation after her husband’s death. She is also called as Narayani Devi. This temple does not hold any deity. There is a large trident, which denotes power, force and bravery. The temple holds a large portrait of Rani Sati. The temple is made with marble and you can find many wall paintings. Inside the complex, you can find Hanuman temple, Lord Shiva temple, Lord Ganesh temple, Sita temple and others. The temples are surrounded by garden. You can find murals, glass mosaics and other decorations inside the temple.

7. SAI DHAM 

This temple is located in Pali district. This is an exact replica of the Shridi Sai Baba temple. This temple is a very powerful structure, according to the devotees. The idol of this temple is made with snow-white marble. The deity stands at 5.5 feet height. If you are looking for a serene experience, visit this temple. 8. AMBIKA MATA TEMPLE

Ambika Mata temple is located in Jagat Village, close to Udaipur. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple is located on a rock cleft. The structure is famous for numerous inscriptions of ancient times. The temple is maintained by archaeology department, today. This temple is called as the Khajuraho of Mewar. You can find sculptures of dancers, musicians, heaven and much more. This temple is also dedicated to Jainism.

9. SALASAR BALAJI TEMPLE

Located in the Salasar town, this temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This 18th century temple is famous for its signature rituals and aartis. You can find these rituals, every day in the temple. The best time to visit this temple is during Ashvin Purnima and Chaitra Purnima.

10. MEHANDIPUR BALAJI TEMPLE

Located in Karauli district, this temple is the best to spot some interesting rituals. This temple is dedicated to the Monkey God, Hanuman. The temple is a famous exorcism spot. You can find many exorcists in action. This temple is also chosen by pilgrims who suffer from chronic illness. Ritual healing processes would be performed by saints inside the temple.
